Background
Bob Weaver Collision Center is the body shop arm of Bob Weaver Auto Group in Pottsville, PA. Like most dealership collision centers, it lived as a few pages buried inside the dealership's main website, where nobody searching for a body shop would ever find it. In April 2026 Savvy Dealer rebuilt the collision center's existing site on its own domain, bobweavercollision.com, with a structure built for how body shop customers actually search: by insurance carrier, by damage type, by certification, and by 'near me'. Savvy Dealer runs the site, the monthly SEO content, and the Google Ads for the shop. This case study covers the first five months after the rebuild, with Google Search Console as the visibility source and the Google Ads account as the efficiency source.
The Challenge
Collision customers do not shop the way car buyers shop. Most of them have just had an accident, their insurer has handed them a list of direct repair shops, and they search for 'body shops near me', the insurer's name plus 'approved body shop', or a certification like Ford Certified Collision. A dealership website is not built to rank for any of that. The dealer's main site had no insurance carrier pages, no estimate capture built for someone standing next to a damaged car, and no content that answered a collision customer's questions. On the paid side, the shop's Google Ads were losing 90% of available impressions to budget at a cost per click over six dollars, which meant the small budget bought almost nothing.
What We Changed
Standalone Collision Site
Rebuilt the collision center's existing site on its own domain with its own sitemap, schema, and navigation, so Google treats it as a body shop, not a footnote on a car dealer's site
Insurance Carrier Pages
A dedicated page for each carrier the shop works with (USAA, Liberty Mutual, Allstate, State Farm, GEICO and more), added monthly as part of the SEO content program. These are the searches a dealership site never captures
Certification and Service-Line Pages
Ford Certified Collision pages (the shop is the only Ford Certified collision center in its county), OEM certification content, and damage-type pages that match how customers describe their problem
Estimate Capture Built for Phones
Text-your-photos estimate flow, click-to-call throughout, and missed-call alerts so an inbound call that goes unanswered gets a callback instead of going to the next shop on the insurer's list
Google Ads Rebuilt for Efficiency
Moved the account to a maximize-clicks structure in late July on a flat budget. Cost per click dropped from $6.33 to $2.01 and impression share lost to budget fell from 90% to 18%
Before & After
The Impact
Google search impressions for bobweavercollision.com went from 2,178 in April, the month of the rebuild, to 5,769 in June and 16,395 in August, a 7.5x increase in four months. The first 60 days alone produced a 2.6x lift. The growth came from the searches a body shop actually needs: 'body shops near me', 'auto body shops near me' and 'collision repair near me' all reached page one in the shop's market at an average position of 6, 'usaa drp' reached position 6, and 'liberty mutual approved body shops' reached position 1. The USAA carrier page alone earned roughly 1,900 impressions. On the paid side, the same monthly budget that bought 200 clicks in June at $6.33 each bought 554 clicks in August at $2.01, and the share of available impressions lost to budget fell from 90% to 18%. Every one of those numbers is a visibility or efficiency number. Phone calls and walk-ins that the visibility produces are tracked separately by the shop and are not part of this study.
The Bottom Line
A collision center will never rank inside a dealership website. Its customers search by insurer, certification and 'near me', and a car dealer's site is not built to answer any of those. Giving the shop its own domain, its own carrier pages and its own ad account turned a footnote into a search presence in five months, on a budget that was previously buying almost nothing.
“We rebuilt the collision center's existing site on its own domain in April, added insurance carrier and certification pages every month, and fixed the ad account in July. By August, search impressions were 7.5x April, the shop was on page one for near-me and insurer searches, and the same ad budget was buying nearly five times the clicks. That is what a collision center looks like when it is treated as its own business online.”
Collision Vertical Analysis
Rebuild, First Five Months
Bob Weaver Collision Center
Key Takeaways
Collision is its own vertical with its own search behavior. Insurance carrier pages and certification pages are the content a dealership site never has and a body shop customer always searches for
Impressions are the leading indicator on a young site. 7.5x impressions in four months with rankings still climbing means the click growth is still ahead
Ad efficiency matters more than ad budget for a body shop. The same spend went from 200 clicks to 554 clicks by fixing the account structure, not by adding money
Measure honestly. These are Search Console and Google Ads numbers. The shop's phone and walk-in counts are a separate conversation
